For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Gemeiner Kiefernspanner Zentralbild Wittig Weiß-Ho. 17.8.1957 Lufthansa bekämpft Kiefernspanner. In den Gebieten von Arnstadt, Stadtilm und Ilmenau sind etwa 2300 ha Wald vom Kiefernspanner befallen. Ein Spezialflugzeug der Deutschen Lufthansa vom Typ AN 2 bekämpft nach Abschluss entsprechender Verträge mit den staatlichen Forstwirtschaftsbetrieben und den Abteilungen Landwirtschaft und Pflanzenschutz bei den Räten der Bezirke die Schädlinge mit DDT und HCC-Mitteln. Bei einer Arbeitsflughöhe von 5-10 m über dem Wald und einer Arbeitsbreite von 30 m sowie einer Fluggeschwindigkeit von 150 km-h werden 40 kg Stäubemittel pro ha von der Maschine ausgestreut. UBz: Kiefernspannermännchen auf einer Karte der befallenen Waldbestände im Raum Arnstadt, Ilmenau und Stadtilm.
