For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Eisenach, VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach Zentralbild Wittig 27.8.1959 Frö-Qu. Angehörige des Jahrgangs 1922 protestieren gegen erneute Rekrutierung. "Ich habe schon einmal fünf Jahre den Kopf hingehalten und wurde schwer verwundet", sagte der Übersiedler Wilhelm Geibel, der vor einigen Tagen aus Westdeutschland in die DDR floh. Wilhelm Geibel, der den Musterungsbescheid zum 20.9.59 in der Tasche hatte, sagte:"Das kommt für mich nicht in Frage". "Ich habe die Nase reichlich voll von Militarismus. Noch nach Beerdigung des Krieges mußte ich in sogenannten Arbeitskompanien in Westdeutschland weiterhin Soldat spielen, " sagte der Reparaturschlosser im VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach, Willi Weitz. Auch Heinz Buchwald, der im selben Betrieb als Automateneinrichter arbeitet, pflichtet ihm bei. Der gesamte Jahrgang müßte in Westdeutschland gegen diese Einberufungen protestieren. Das gäbe für Strauß und Konsorten eine entsprechende Abfuhr. UBz: Die drei Angehörigen des Jahrgangs 1922, Willi Weitz (rechts), Wilhelm Geibel (Mitte) und Heinz Buchwald (links) vor dem Werktor des VEB Automobilwerk Eisenach.
