For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Mellahn 26.8.1960 Mel-Fr. Die Ostseeküste ein bedeutendes Schiffbauzentrum. Zu einem der bedeutendsten Schiffbauzentren des sozialistischen Lagers hat sich die Ostseeküste der DDR mit den vier Hochseewerften in Warnemünde, Rostock, Wismar und Stralsund entwickelt. Hinzu kommen 11 mittlere und kleine Schiffbaubetriebe an der Küste und im Binnenland. Auch die jetzt 110 Jahre alte Ostseewerft "Neptun" in Rostock erlebte nach 1945 einen stürmischen Aufschwung, waren es unter kapitalistischen Bedingungen im Höchstfalle 3 000 Beschäftigte so sind es jetzt weit über 8 000. In diesem Jahr wollen die Werktätigen 29 Handels- und Spezialschiffe - das sind 6 mehr als im Vorjahr - an ihre Auftraggeber ausliefern. Es werden vorwiegend 4 500 Tonnen Frachter für den Export in die Sowjetunion gebaut. UBz: Die beiden 999 Tonnen Frachter "Bloudan" und "Helwan" sind für die VAR bestimmt." |
