Die XII. Internationale DDR-Rad-Rundfahrt wurde am 17.8.1961 vor dem Klubhaus der Jugend und Sportler gestartet. Die erste Etappe führt über 180 km nach Forst.

UBz: Rundfunkreporter Oertel (Mitte) mit Bernhard Eckstein (links) und Täve Schur. Beide Sportler erklärten zu dem Abbruch des gesamtdeutschen Sportverkehrs durch Bonn: Dieser befohlene Abbruch der sportlichen Beziehungen mit der DDR ist eine Unverschämtheit und bestimmt nicht im Sinne der westdeutschen Aktiven.
