Zentralbild Gahlbeck 24.8.1961 7.000 Wohnungen in Karl-Marx-Stadt seit 1957 Über 20.000 Bürger von Karl-Marx-Stadt konnten seit den letzten Komunalwahlen vor vier Jahren ein neues Heim beziehen. In dieser Zeit wurden der Bevölkerung mehr als 7.000 Neubauwohnungen übergeben. Allein in diesem Jahr werden 2 850 Wohnungen errichtet. Neben achtgeschossigen Wohnbauten, von denen die ersten bereits an der Strasse der Nationen entstehen, sind im Zentrum moderne Kaufhäuser,Hotels,Sammelgaragen und repräsentative Großbauten, wie z.B. ein 23 Stockwerk hohes Haus der Wissenschaft und Kultur vorgesehen. Zur Bewältigung dieser umfangreichen Projekte sind allein bis Ende des Siebenjahrplanes Bauleistungen im Werte von 237 Millionen DM geplant.
