For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
III. Internationale Automobil-Rallye "Für Frieden und Freundschaft" 72 Fahrzeuge aus der Sowjetunion, Volkspolen, der CSSR, der DDR, Bulgarien und Ungarn bestreiten die über 5000 km führende III. Internationale Automobil-Rallye "Für Frieden und Freundschaft" vom 2.-7. September 1962. Die Strecke führt vom Startort Tihany am Plattensee durch Ungarn, die CSSR, bis zum Wendepunkt Kiew und von dort durch Volkspolen, nochmals durch die CSSR bis zum Endziel Dresden. Am 6. September erreichen die Fahrzeuge die Oder-Neiße-Friedensgrenze bei Görlitz, um von dort aus die letzten 850 km durch das Gebiet unserer Republik in Angriff zu nehmen. Eine Sonderprüfung auf dem Dresdener Altmarkt beschließt am Nachmittag des 7. September diese Friedensfahrt der Motorsportler. UBz: Bei den vielen Sonderprüfungen kommt es manchmal sogar auf den Zentimeter an."
