Zentralbild Gahlbeck 6.10.1962 Stadtzentrum von Karl-Marx-Stadt entsteht neu Seit Dezember vorigen Jahres , als die Stadtverordnetenversammlung von Karl-Marx-Stadt das Programm für den Neuaufbau des Stadtzentrums beschloß, beherrschten Bagger, Turmdrehkräne und der Fleiß Hunderter Bauarbeiter, Architekten und Ingenieure das Stadtinnere, dasnach den angloamerikanischen Luftangriffen im März 1945 nur noch eine Trümmerwüste war. - Die ersten acht Wohnblocks in Großplattenbauweise entstanden, gegenwärtig werden zweigeschossige Ladentrakte gebaut und das Hotel "Moskau", zu dem ein Tanzcafé und ein Tagescafé gehören, geht seiner Vollendung entgegen. Allein in diesem Jahr wurden 42 Millionen DM an Investitionsmitteln für den Aufbau des Stadtzentrums der Bezirksstadt zur Verfügung gestellt.
