Chemnitz, HO-Warenhaus "Zentrum" Zentralbild Gahlbeck Sta-Gro 29.3.1963 Modernes Warenhaus in Karl-Marx-Stadt eröffnet - 24 Verkaufsabteilungen mit 10500 Quadratmeter Fläche Am 28. März öffneten sich die fünf großen Eingangstore zum neuerbauten HO-Warenhaus "Zentrum" in Karl-Marx-Stadt, das mit einer Verkaufsfläche von 10500 Quadratmetern eine der größten und modernsten Einkaufsstätten der DDR ist. Mit einem Kostenaufwand von 13,2 Millionen DM wurde die Ruine eines ehemaligen Kaufhauses, das im März 1945 einem angloamerikanischen Luftangriff zum Opfer fiel, in eine sozialistische Handelsstätte verwandelt. In vier Etagen sind insgesamt 24 Verkaufsabteilungen untergebracht. UBz: Andrang vor dem Kaufhaus am Eröffnungstage.
