For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.
Rostock, Überseehafen, Güterzüge, Verladekräne Zentralbild Karnitzki 6.4.1965 Zum 20. Jahrestag der Befreiung Hochbetrieb herrscht im Rostocker Überseehafen der am 30.4.1965 sein 5jähriges Bestehen feiert. Schiffe löschen ihre Fracht und nehmen Exportgüter der DDR mit auf die Reise. Hier werden gerade PKW vom Typ Wartburg verladen (unser Foto). Im Vorjahr wurden hier in der Umschlagleistung erstmals die sechs-Millionen-Tonnen-Grenze überschritten. 1964 löschten in den Seehäfen der DDR etwa 5200 Schiffe aus 80 Ländern ihre Güter.
