For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme.  Magdeburg, Karl-Marx-Straße
Zentralbild Biscan ST-st. 7.7.1966 Magdeburg: Wiederaufbau des Stadtzentrums: Noch vor wenigen Jahren war der Magdeburger Stadtteil zwischen der Karl-Marx-Straße und dem Altstädtischen Krankenhaus eine trostlose Steinwüste, in der nur ein einziger Neubau und einige notdürftige instandgesetzte alte Häuser standen. Heute erheben sich hier große Wohnblöcke mit modernen und geräumigen Wohnungen, großen Geschäften und eleganten Gaststätten. In den letzten 20 Jahren wurden nahezu alle Kriegsschäden beseitigt und ganze Stadtviertel neu aufgebaut. Während des Zweiten Weltkrieges betrug der Zerstörungsgrad im Magdeburger Stadtzentrum 85 Prozent. 40637 Wohnungen waren total und 31785 Wohnungen waren teilzerstört. (Siehe auch E 0707-08-2N). |
