For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. Zentralbild-Deutsche Demokratische Republik-20.7.1970-Hn.- Potsdam - Schloß Sanssouci. Schloß Sanssouci und seine Gärten begeistern in ihrer einzigartigen Harmonie von Kunst und Natur alljährlich Millionen Besucher aus aller Welt. Das Schloß wurde 1745 bis 1747 nach Plänen don G.W.von Knobelsdorff für den preußischen König Friedrich II. als Lustschloß erbaut. Knobelsdorff entwarf die Parkanlagen sowie die meisten Schlösser Potsdams. Er lehnte sich an das französische Vorbild, Park und Schloß von Versailles, an. Der Park von Sanssouci und seine Schlösser liegen heute vor uns, als hätten niemals in unmittelbarer Nähe die Kämpfe um Berlin getobt. Auf Initiative des Gardehauptmanns der sowjetischen Armee, Prof. F.A. Lutschuweit, wurde der Park von Sanssouci vor den Toren Potsdams bei der Eroberung der Stadt umgangen und so vor der Zerstörung bewahrt. Foto: Link Copyright: ADN-Zentralbild |
