For documentary purposes the German Federal Archive often retained the original image captions, which may be erroneous, biased, obsolete or politically extreme. ADN-ZB-Ludwig-16.5.1980-Erfurt: Tierpark- Bekanttschaft mit einem kleinen Zackelschaft schlossen diese Dreijährigen im Thüringer Zoopark Erfurt. Eine Spezialität des Erfurter Tierparks ist die Haltung von Haustieren, die vom Aussterben bedroht sind. Es gibt dort die weltweit größte Sammlung von Tieren dieser Art. Der Erfurter Zoopark hat die Federführung bei einer Bestandsaufnahme aller bedrohten Haustierrassen in der DDR, die im Auftrag der UNO-Spezialorganisation FAO (Food and Agriculture Organisation) gegenwärtig durchgeführt wird. Durch die industriemäßigen Methoden in der Landwirtschaft und die damit verbundenen anderen Lebensgewohnheiten sind einige Haustiere "unbrauchbar" geworden. Im Erfurter Zoopark werden sie für die heutige Zeit und für künftige Generationen erhalten." |
