| Description |
English: Burton Street. On the right are the Guildhall and the former City Police headquarters (the 1950s block). The white Stalinist tower is The Newton Building, now part of Nottingham Trent University, but originally built in 1956-8 for what later became the Polytechnic. To its left in the distance, on the corner of Talbot Street and Goldsmith Street (just in this gridsquare), the cream building with brown cupola and two round windows is the first home of Nottingham Playhouse, originally a cinema. It is shown in Alan Murray-Rust's photo nearby 790013. |
