English: Close up view of the 5th string hidden channel entrance of a fairly early, (from the serial number - 994) model 8 bracketless 5 string "zither" Banjo made by John Abbott & Co. of London. there are a number of stories as to why the 6 tuners for 5 strings; and to why this style of Banjo is called a zither banjo.
