English: JERAM SISIK, Malaysia (June 24, 2009) - U.S. Marine 1st Sgt. Paul Kraus, company first sergeant for Landing Force CARAT, shares a "sloppy joe" from his meal-ready to eat (MRE) with Malaysian soldiers from the 8th Royal Ranger Regiment as part of a field food exchange. The Malaysian soldiers, in turn, shared sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves and other local field meals, as part of Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Malaysia 2009. CARAT is an annual series of bilateral maritime training exercises between the United States and six Southeast Asia nations designed to enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces.
