Description

This historical marker is dedicated to U.S. 12 - also known as The Chicago Road. The marker is located about half a mile west of Bronson at a roadside park on the north side of the road.

It is known as the Chicago Road because it was created as a military road that linked forts in Detroit and Chicago. It is also called The Sauk Trail in some places due to the fact that the surveyors of the road basically followed the path of a Sauk Indian trail.
