Nederlands: Schild. Convex houten schild met rond verlopende bovenrand en een korte punt aan de onderzijde. Beschilderd met o.a. een hagedisachtige figuur en twee kapmessen.
Schilden werden gebruikt door speervechters die zich bijna geheel konden verschansen achter hun grote schild. Tegenstanders beschikten vaak over een gehaakte stok om het schild van de tegenstander omver te trekken. De geschilderde figuren en motieven op de schilden zouden het prestige van de strijder benadrukken (Van Zonneveld, p. 6).. Beschilderd houten schild met hagedisDeutsch: Schild von der Insel Enggano bei Sumatra. Diese Verteidigungswaffe wurde zum Schutz gegenüber von Speerkämpfern eingesetzt. Material: Holz; Maße: Höhe 144 cm, Breite 39 cm, verziert mit Naturfarben, dargestellt sind eine Schildkröte sowie zwei parangs, Handwaffe der Indonesier, die als Schwert und als Machete eingesetzt werden.
