Nederlands: Ceremonieel hoofddeksel, te weten een puntvormige muts met langwerpige afhang en geborduurde versiering. De muts is versierd met geometrische figuren geborduurd in goudkleurig zilverdraad (de goudkleur is er grotendeels afgesleten). Het borduurwerk op de langwerpige afhang toont diverse motieven. Op het centrale paneel is een gestileerde vrouwelijke figuur geflankeerd door twee mannelijke figuren te zien, de handen in de hoogte, met daarnaast vissen. Dit motief is zeldzaam. Daaronder en zijdelings opeenvolgende banden van doorlopende geometrische motieven.
Het hoofddeksel werd gedragen door bruiden in Hammamet als onderdeel van een traditioneel huwelijkskostuum. Het complete kostuum (6353-1/5) bestaat uit tuniek met bijpassende broek en vestje, een hemd en hoofdtooi. Dit kostuum werd gedragen op de derde dag van het huwelijksritueel, de zogenaamde 'jelwa' dag, wanneer de bruid getoond wordt aan de familieleden, de huwelijkscontracten uitgewisseld worden en de inventaris van de bruidsschat opgemaakt (Stone 1985, p. 105-6, 136-8). |
