Nederlands: Repronegatief. De Brit Alfred Russel Wallace, die tussen 1854 en 1862 in de Archipel rondreisde en dieren verzamelde, was diep onder de indruk van de insecten van de Molukken. Volgens hem was er wellicht nergens ter wereld een eiland met de geringe omvang van Ambon met zoveel prachtige insecten. Zoogdieren kwamen er echter nauwelijks voor. Het lag dan ook ten oosten van de beroemde 'lijn van Wallace', de lijn die Wallace getrokken had tussen het westen van de Archipel (Sumatra, Borneo, Java en Bali) en de rest. Ten westen van die lijn trof hij een Aziatische fauna aan, ten oosten een Australische. Het dier op de foto werd door de Duitse bioloog Felix Kopstein Gespensterschrecke ('spooksprinkhaan') genoemd.
