Nederlands: Negatief. Een belangrijke hygiënische vorm van zorg was het wederzijds ontluizen. De Dajaks maakten op buitenstaanders vaak de indruk in goede gezondheid te verkeren en in een puike fysieke conditie te zijn. Gebrek aan voedsel was er zeer zelden. Als er eens een (rijst)oogst mislukte, dan waren er altijd alternatieven in de vorm van sago, wortels en knollen en verschillende noten en vruchten. Daarom waren artsen en koloniale ambtenaren ook zo verbaasd over de geringe bevolkingsgroei op Borneo. Een ziekte als pokken speelde hierbij ongetwijfeld een rol. Ook realiseerde men zich over het algemeen niet dat er een zeer hoge kindersterfte heerste en dat alleen de zeer sterken overleefden. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
