Nederlands: Negatief. In 1847 had Dr. Willem Bosch, de chef van de MGD, het voorstel ingediend om geschikte Javaanse jongeren een geneeskundige opleiding te geven. In 1851 was dit onderwijs te Weltevreden (Batavia) begonnen onder leiding van de Officier van Gezondheid 1e klasse Dr. P. Bleeker. In 1853 begonnen de eerste 11 afgestudeerden hun medische loopbaan, met als titel die van 'dokter djawa'. De eerste lichting werd in zijn geheel ingezet bij de vaccinatie tegen de pokken, maar later kregen ze, nadat de opleiding was aangepast, een veel ruimer takenpakket. Hun school heette School tot Opleiding van Indische Artsen (STOVIA). (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
