Nederlands: Negatief. Java heeft een moessonklimaat. Dat betekent dat er een min of meer regelmatige afwisseling is van natte en droge perioden. De natte of westmoesson duurt van oktober/november tot april/mei, terwijl de droge of oostmoesson de rest van het jaar beslaat. De moessons worden zo af en toe verstoord door zogeheten El Niño gebeurtenissen die vooral opvallen door lange, droge periodes. Veel en langdurige neerslag is gedurende de natte moesson normaal. Meestal treedt er dan wel ergens op Java een rivier buiten de oevers waardoor plotseling dorpen en steden onder water komen te staan.
