Nederlands: De kalebas is onderdeel van de uitrusting van de 'medicijnman', traditioneel genezer. Volgens informatie van de verkoper worden soortgelijke kalebassen gebruikt door zowel mannen als vrouwen. De genezer gebruikt bij het definiëren een kalebas gevuld met onder andere zaden, kleine stenen en andere voorwerpen. Hij schudt de kalebas en gooit vervolgens een gedeelte van de inhoud op de (geiten)huid voor hem. Uit het aantal voorwerpen die op de huid vallen trekt hij zijn conclusies betreffende de vragen/klachten van zijn cliënt.
De kalebas is volgens de verkoper gekocht van het Nationaal Museum Kenya, Nairobi. |
