Nederlands: De kalebas kan voor meerdere doeleinden worden gebruikt:
- het bewaren van melk, de 'Ol Buguri' - het melken zelf, de 'Ol Odi' - het bereiden van boter, de 'En Diagologol' - het bewaren van honingbier, 'E' mikorokoro' Deze kalebas wordt waarschijnlijk voor het bewaren van melk gebruikt. Bij het dagelijks gebruik wordt de kalebas gereinigd door het uit te spoelen met runderurine. Water gebruikt men liever niet omdat de melk daar eerder onaangenaam van gaat ruiken en volgens de Masai vrouwen zou de melk niet zo gelijkmatig dik worden als bij urine het geval is, bovendien komt er dan een laag water op de melk te liggen. De kalebasflessen krijgen daarom snel een zure lucht en worden gereinigd door de rook van de takken van de Acacia (Ol Orien), wat de melk een aangename smaak geeft. Melk wordt altijd gemengd met runderbloed gedronken. |
