Nederlands: Het monument herdenkt de slag tussen de Zulu's en Voortrekkers op 16 december 1838. Er zouden hierbij zoveel Zulu's zijn gesneuveld dat de rivier rood kleurde van hun bloed, vandaar dat het treffen de geschiedenis is ingegaan als de 'slag bij de Bloedrivier'. |
