Bahasa Indonesia: Negatif. Panggilan shalat menggunakan bedug di masjid, Banten. Pada sekitar tahun 1600 Banten ("Bantam") adalah kesultanan dagang yang kuat, tetapi memasuki abad ke-17 mulai tersaingi oleh kerajaan Mataram dari Jawa Tengah di masa Sultan Agung. Pasukan Sultan Agung dua kali, tahun 1628 dan 1629, mencoba menaklukkan benteng VOC di Batavia, dan gagal. Kegagalan ini terutama disebabkan oleh pasokan logistik yang buruk serta merebaknya wabah penyakit di pihaknya. Bangunan kerajaan Banten hampir tak tersisa sekarang, tetapi masjidnya masih berdiri. Nederlands: Negatief. Rond 1600 is Bantam een rijk handelssultanaat, maar in de loop van de 17e eeuw wordt het in betekenis overvleugeld door het Midden-Javaanse rijk Mataram, met als belangrijkste heerser Sultan Agung. Deze probeerde tot twee maal toe, in 1628 en 1629, om de VOC vestiging Batavia te veroveren; tevergeefs. Hij werd vooral verslagen door een gebrekkige aanvoer van voedsel en door het uitbreken van ziektes in zijn leger.
