Nederlands: Negatief. Lopen was voor de elite, zowel de inheemse als de Europese, geen geliefde bezigheid. Volgens de oudste berichten reden de vorsten op een soort wagens of werden in draagstoelen vervoerd. De adel verplaatste zich vaak te paard. De Nederlanders introduceerden al in de 17e eeuw de koets. Die werd tot ver in de 20e eeuw gebruikt, ook door inheemse vorsten die er soms hele collecties van aanlegden. In de 19e en 20e eeuw kwamen er iets minder kostbare middelen van vervoer, die door paarden getrokken werden, beschikbaar. Deze luisterden naar namen als sjees (van het Franse 'chaise', stoel), deleman, bendie of sados, afgeleid van het Franse 'dos à dos', oftewel rug-aan-rug. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
