Nederlands: Het schoolbord is afkomstig uit dezelfde soort ateliers waarin de reclameborden uit deze serie worden vervaardigd. Het schoolbord kan daarom ook gezien worden als een voorbeeld van Popular Art:
Kunstuitingen die hun ontstaan danken aan de moderne stedelijke milieus, waarin voornamelijk ongeschoolden de schilder- en beeldhouwkunst beoefenen: kunst die voortkomt uit het volk. Het verdwijnen van de banden die het collectieve dorpsleven met zich meebrengt leidde tot een grotere vrijheid van expressie. Ook de anonimiteit van het individu in de stad stimuleert de fantasie. In de stad ontwikkelt zich zo een nieuwe cultuur die in het gehele straatbeeld is terug te vinden. De reclameborden weerspiegelen het leven, de doelen en de dromen van de (met name armere) stadsbewoners. Dit exemplaar is afkomstig uit de stad Kribi. Op het bord staan voor het leren van het alfabet de letters A t/m L aangeduid met bijpassende afbeeldingen: A= Ananas B= Banane C= Canard D= Danse E= Escargot F= Fleur G= Giraffe H= Hibou I= Ivoire J= Jambe K= Képi L= Lutte |
