Nederlands: Negatief. 'Als je terugkomt, breng dan een aapje voor me mee' was decennia lang het standaard afscheid voor veel Indiëgangers, ongetwijfeld omdat vele duizenden dat sinds de eerste tochten naar de Oost ook gedaan hadden. Al in de reisverhalen van de 17e eeuw is te lezen dat de grote schepen uit Europa verwelkomd werden door de lokale bevolking in kleine bootjes in een poging om allerlei soorten eten en dieren te verkopen aan de schepelingen. Sumatra telt voor een deel dezelfde apen als Java, maar heeft daarenboven de befaamde orang-oetan en de klapperaap. De laatste ontleent zijn naam aan het feit dat hij getraind kon worden - en ook werd - om klappers (kokosnoten) uit de bomen te halen.
