Nederlands: Deze stokpoppen ('maaninw', letterlijk 'kleine mensen') stellen twee gierststampende vrouwen (Niosusula) voor. De poppen bestaan uit een rompstuk met hoofd en twee beweegbare armen die door middel van touwtjes bewogen worden. De poppen zijn op een dwarsbalk bevestigd, die op een frame kan worden geplaatst. Ze dragen katoenen gewaden die met 'bogolan' (modderdoek) motieven bedrukt zijn.
Deze stokpop bevindt zich op de rug van Sigi, de Wilde Buffel. Een grote stokpop in de vorm van een dierenkop beeldt een - vaak mythisch - dier ('sogo') uit. Deze kop is op een groot frame bevestigd, het 'lichaam' van het dier. Binnenin bevinden zich de spelers, een om de kop met bewegende onderdelen te bewegen en een of twee anderen om de kleinere poppen op de rug van het dier te manipuleren. De grote dieren hebben een symbolische betekenis; de kleine poppen beelden personages en dieren uit het dagelijks leven uit. Als het frame met stof bedekt is, spreekt men van 'finisogo' (dier van stof); finisogow treden alleen overdag op. Er is eveneens een variant met stro, die 'binsogo' (dier van stro) genoemd wordt, en die alleen 's nachts optreden. De stokpoppen en maskers treden op tijdens het jaarlijkse maskerfeest, begeleid door zang, tromspel en dans. |
