Nederlands: Schaduwfiguur. Dit is een Wajang Kulit pop. Kulit betekent leer of huid. Bij deze vorm tekent de maker de figuren eerst op leer en vervolgens snijdt hij ze uit. Daarna worden de poppen beschilderd. De platte poppen worden tegen een scherm gehouden dat is belicht door een lamp, hierdoor valt de schaduw van de pop op het scherm. Het spel is aan beide kanten te zien. De ene kant ziet de daadwerkelijke pop en de andere kant de schaduw. Wajang kulit is de meest voorkomende wajang vorm. De oudere verhalen, de wajang purwa, worden meestal in deze vorm verteld en heten dan ook wajang kulit purwa. Deze vorm is mogelijk ontstaan rond 1550.
