Description
English: Geneticist Helen Newton Turner introduced important new concepts to Merino sheep-breeding in Australia. She led CSIRO's sheep breeding research from 1956 to 1973 as the Senior Principal Research Scientist in the Division of Animal Genetics. She conducted experiments on twinning in sheep and her work has helped to increase the quality of Australian wool. Helen Newton Turner is pictured here in the Mathematics and Statistics Section at the McMaster Laboratories, planning and analysing experiments and preparing maps and charts.
