日本語: 初回の衝突後では#0と#1の2つの待ち時間候補からランダムに選ばれる。2回目の衝突後は#0、#1、#2、#3の4つの待ち時間候補からランダムに選ばれる。3回目の衝突後は#0、#1、#2、#3、#4、#5、#6、#7の8つの待ち時間候補からランダムに選ばれる。同様に10回目の衝突後は#0、#1、#2、#3 ～ #1022、#1023の1024個の待ち時間候補からランダムに選ばれる。10回目以上の衝突回数後はすべて1024個の待ち時間候補からランダムに選ばれる。こうすることで、混み合った場合に各端末が短時間で何度も送信を試みて衝突を繰り返すことを出来るだけ避けるように工夫されている。また各候補は512ビット時間（後述）分の1スロット時間ずつ間隔があけてある。なお同一セグメント内での端末数の上限数「1024」はこの「1024個の待ち時間候補」から定められた数であり、もし1024の端末すべてが再送待ちを行なえば必ず衝突が発生することから決められた。.
