Summary

edit
Description This is a west-bound CSX freight train on 12 May 2018 at Marion Station in north-central Ohio. It's headed by five CSX Transportation (= Chessie-Seaboard Expanded) engines. The fourth unit is CSX # 1006, a slug locomotive, or "calf". It is a rebuilt American Locomotive Company (Alco) MT6 that was originally manufactured as a "normal" locomotive in March 1958 as an Alco RSD12. It has seen previously seen service as Pennsylvania Railroad # 8672, Penn Central Railroad # 6872, and Conrail # 1102. The fifth unit, CSX # 2443, is a General Motors Electro-Motive Division SD40-2, built in October 1974. In former service, the engine was Louisville & Nashville Railroad # 3560, Seaboard System Railroad # 3560, Seaboard System Railroad # 8188, and CSX # 8188. Units 1006 and 2443 are kept paired together - a "cow and calf".
