Summary edit

Description Aircraft of the U.S. Navy Carrier Air Wing 19 (CVW-19) in flight. CVW-19 was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14) for a deployment to Vietnam from 28 December 1967 to 17 August 1968. The composition of aircraft shows the typical mix of an air wing that was assigned to an Essex-class attack carrier in 1967: two fighter squadrons (VF) flying the Vought F-8 Crusader, three attack squadrons (VA) flying the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk, and a detachmnet of a heavy attack squadron with the A-3B Skywarrior. Not shown are the detachments of a reconnaissance squadron (RF-8 Crusader, VFP) and of an early warning squadron (E-1B Tracer, VAW).
