Description

Seattle cable car 2, at Third and Yesler, on the last day of cable car service in Seattle, August 9, 1940. The Yesler Way line was one of several cable railways in Seattle, but was the last to close. The last three lines all closed in 1940: The Madison Street line in February, the James Street line in April and the Yesler line in August.

Seattle Municipal Archives changed its URL scheme circa 2022; the older URLs beginning with "clerk" are deprecated, and will eventually fail.
