English: WIPO Director General Daren Tang (left) received on April 6, 2022, from Rui Alberto de Figueiredo Soares, Cabo Verde's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Regional Integration, the country's instruments of accession to the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property, the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), the Madrid Protocol, and the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement.
During the meeting, Mr. Tang emphasized that intellectual property (IP) is a powerful catalyst for jobs, investments and business growth, supporting enterprises and individuals for economic and social development - adding that WIPO stands ready to support Cabo Verde to use IP for economic growth. Dr. Soares, speaking on behalf of the government of Cabo Verde, welcomed WIPO's support for the implementation of the treaties and stated its importance to build a strong economy based on technology and innovation.
