English: Caerhowel Smithy Grade 2 listed as a "substantial secular 17th century cottage". Timber framed with most original and early features intact. The Smithy was originally linked to the nearby Court Calmore farm - originally built by Chirbury Priory around 1255. The building seems to have been built as the farm smithy and functioned as a (private)smithy/motor repair business until the 1930's. A right of way leads directly to, but not across, the smithy boundary. |
