I got the train to Tipton Station, and the first thing I did was walk down a section of the Birmingham Canal Navigations New Main Line from the Tipton Station Bridge towards the Watery Lane Bridge. On a nice sunny but cold day in Tipton!
Towards Caggy's Yard Bridge.
SANDWELL MB BIRMINGHAM CANAL SO 99 SE Birmingham Level, Tipton 4/7 Towpath bridge over entrance to canal basin (approx l50m west of Watery Lane) II Towpath bridge. Mid-C19. Cast iron with brick abutments which have some sandstone dressings. Single shallow segmental arch. Sides are a single casting pierced to form lattice pattern of saltire crosses. Spans the entrance to a boat yard which was formerly Tipton railway interchange basin, one of 26 such transhipment depots constructed on the Birmingham Canal from the 1850's onwards.
