editDescriptionCalifornia's Lake Oroville hits 100% capacity ESA24954746.gif |
English: Lake Oroville, California’s second-largest reservoir, made the news recently after reaching full capacity for the first time in over 10 years. The California Department of Water Resources reported that Lake Oroville doesn't often reach full capacity, the last time in 2012. Heavy snowfall in California last winter allowed for the lake to now reach 100% capacity. This Copernicus Sentinel-2 animation shows the lake in September 2021, when it reached its lowest point capacity-wise in recent years, and an image of the lake in June 2023 when the lake reached its full capacity. A graph showing the surface elevation of Lake Oroville can be seen here. |
