Title
Calisch's Tailor Shop, Toledo, Ohio [approximately 1900]
Description
A turn of the century scene of downtown Toledo. There are a series of shops receding into the distance. The first identifiable one is Calisch's Tailor Shop. The stores all have large plate glass windows and signs identifying the various stores. The stores are all multi-story buildings. A woman wearing a long dress and a hat is walking down the street; a man is walking towards her. At the very front of the photograph is a shadow of a man's head; he is wearing a bowler hat. There is a fire hydrant towards the foreground of the photograph. Straight down from the hydrant is a structure with an umbrella attached to it. A horse and buggy are in the street behind this structure. Six buildings are immediately across the street from the row of buildings on the left side of the photograph. All the buildings, but one, are multi-story buildings; the exception is a one story building. There are buildings farther down the street. A number of people are walking on the sidewalks on the right side of the street. There is a tree behind the first set of buildings on the right side of the street. Its branches are bare. Terms associated with the photograph are: Adams Street (Toledo, Ohio) | Huron Street (Toledo, Ohio) | Calisch's Tailor Shop (Toledo, Ohio) | commercial buildings | Italianate Style
