Summary

Description
English: President Calvin Coolidge succeeded Warren Harding as President following Harding's untimely death on August 2, 1923. That event made Coolidge the likely Republican candidate for the 1924 Presidential election. Cartoonist Clifford Berryman shows Coolidge nailing a notice on the door of the White House proclaiming "THIS is the executive office," leaving no doubt as to who was in charge of the government.
