Português: Árvore que mede, em média, de 20 a 30 metros de alturatronco reto, com diâmetro que varia de 30 a 40 centímetros. Apresenta folhas simples e pequenas flores brancas entre junho e julho. É originária do Brasil, mais precisamente da região amazônica, em locais de mata de várzea que periodicamente é inundada. O tronco dessa árvore é a atração principal, pois é de um tom laranja-terra e permanece dessa cor até descascar quando então torna-se verde escuro. Os nomes comuns são: mulateiro, mulateiro-da-várzea, escorrega-macaco, pau-mulato e pau-marfim. Produz muitas sementes que são disseminadas pelo vento. A maturação dos frutos ocorre de outubro a novembro. |
