Description
English: Built in 1929, this eleven-story Mediterranean Revival-style building was designed by B. Frank Kelly, and is one of the tallest buildings on Delaware Avenue north of Downtown Buffalo. The building features a red brick exterior with terra cotta trim, red terra cotta tile pyramidal hipped and bonnet roofs, rooftop and upper level terraces and porches, juliet balconies with terra cotta balustrades, several towers with decorative windows surrounds and pyramidal hipped roofs, decorative spandrel panels and engaged columns around window bays at the corners, center, and upper portions of the building, six-over-one, eight-over-one, and casement windows, a stone base with entry porticoes on the south and west facades featuring roof balustrades and ionic columns, and a landscaped rear courtyard. A similar, shorter apartment building stands immediately to the east along Bryant Street, which features similar detailing but an absence of terra cotta tile roofs, simpler terra cotta detailing, and a C-shaped layout with a front courtyard facing the street. The building remains in use as an upscale apartment building.
