| Description | Although an aid to navigation was established here as early as 1879, there was never an authentic lighthouse at this site. The 1990 List of Lights still described the navigational aid at Campbellton as “red square skeleton tower, white rectangular daymark, two fluorescent orange diamonds in center.” In 1985 the City of Campbellton incorporated the existing light tower into an imitation lighthouse with an attached house that was then opened as Campbellton Lighthouse Hostel, part of Hostelling International. The lantern is a poor imitation and is the first key in alerting any lighthouse enthusiast that this should not be considered an authentic lighthouse. |
