| Description |
Português: Canário-da-terra verdadeiro, Serinus canaria (Linnaeus 1758) Canário-da-terra, Serinus canaria (Linnaeus 1758). Espécie endémica da Macaronésia, que ocorre nos arquipélagos dos Açores, da Madeira e das Canárias. Ocorre em todas as ilhas do arquipélago, exceto nas Selvagens, e pode ser encontrado em distintos habitats e a várias altitudes. No verão, em especial, aparece em alguns dos picos mais altos da ilha da Madeira, mas, em geral, ocorre em áreas urbanas, áreas abertas com vegetação rasteira ou pouco densa, áreas agrícolas e áreas marginais de florestas ou bosques, quer sejam indígenas ou exóticos. No Porto Santo e nas Desertas, ocupa áreas mais áridas. Alimenta-se de sementes e de outras matérias vegetais, podendo ocasionalmente consumir pequenos invertebrados. |
