English: Canal bank and St James's Church, Acton Trussell, Staffordshire The church of Saint James, Acton Trussell, stands a quarter of a mile south of the village. Before the middle of the 19th century it was approached by a footpath only. The original structure dates from the 13th and 14th centuries, and many alterations were made over the centuries. The church was enlarged and partly rebuilt in 1870. The base of the tower is of 13th-century masonry, and until the alterations of 1870 the west ends of both north and south nave walls were of the same date.
