Summary edit

Description
English: Canal buildings at Tyrley Wharf, Staffordshire. Looking across the winding hole in late evening sunlight. The buildings are dated 1840 at the far end by the top lock and 1837 on the house at this end. The Shropshire Union Canal was fully opened just two years before in 1835, engineered by Thomas Telford - his last canal project.
