Summary edit

Description

The canals in Britain once were the main means of transport of goods but as road networks improved and trains became common the canals and waterways declined almost to nothing.

Today, however, the canals and waterways have found a new use, by people living and travelling on the water, mostly for pleasure not work.

Barges, as seen here have become fairly common again, mostly as houseboats. This was in Cheshire, North-West England. As we see here there is still the occasional working boat as well.
