English: This photo depicts a Christian ritual that takes place during the feast of Candlemas which is held yearly on 2nd February. This feast celebrates and commemorates the presentation of young Jesus Christ at the temple of Jerusalem. The feast marks the return of light and marks the end of Winter, a symbol of protection and prosperity. This ceremony in this photo is taking place at Mosta Rotunda on the island of Malta.
